At Shirelands Goldens, we are very much a family-based breeder passionate about raising quality Golden Retrievers that bring joy, love, and companionship to families. Our commitment ensures that every puppy is raised with the utmost care, love, and attention. Our philosophy is to provide a free range environment - no kennels - no crates and force and fear free training.

"We are so happy with our new addition to the family - little Ralph ❤️ We could not recommend Jackie and Andrew enough, they are such a caring lovely couple who just love their goldens - and their puppies! They let us visit Ralph as many times as we wanted during his first 8 weeks. Meeting Ralph’s mum and dad really put us at ease seeing how lovely and how nice their temperaments are. Their home environment was filled with normal busy home goings on - washing machines, hoovers, children etc, which really made us comfortable that Ralph wouldn’t be phased by these things when he came to our home. Every day they would send us photos and updates on their progress, and answer any questions we had. As Ralph is our first pet, all the worries about microchipping, vaccinations, flee and worming, feeding etc was all explained to us. All of our friends and family that have bought their dogs from breeders, have all been surprised at how much contact and support we’ve had with our breeders. We feel very lucky to have found Jackie and Andrew, and now we have a lovely dog to show for it. He is very friendly, playful, not scared of people, other dogs, children etc - all the things you worry about! We can’t wait to enjoy our lives with our happy pup. "We had a fabulous experience choosing Alina through Jackie at Shirelands. We had lots of contact before and after Alina was born. We got to meet her at 1 week old and again at 5 weeks. Riley, our Breeding Girl
Riley is a cherished member of the Shirelands Goldens family. With her radiant golden coat, loving personality, and impeccable lineage, Riley exemplifies the qualities we value in our breeding program.

Pedigree: Riley hails from a prestigious line of champion Golden Retrievers, ensuring that her puppies inherit the finest traits of the breed.
Temperament: Riley is known for her sweet and nurturing nature. She is incredibly affectionate and enjoys being around people and other animals, making her an ideal family dog.
Health: Riley has undergone thorough health screenings and genetic testing to ensure she is in excellent health. Her robust health and strong genetics make her an exceptional breeding girl.
Labrador Retriever
Andrew’s family had a Labrador “Jamie Bracken” when he was growing up, and when we were first married, we had our first Labrador, Gemma. When our children were growing up we had Charlie from the historical “Sandylands” line and he lived for 13 years. We also loved all things Labrador so had Heidi, a chocolate show type Labrador, Millie a black Labrador and then the infamous Lola, a fox red Labrador. We are aware that there are only 3 colours recognised for Labradors, so the yellow Labradors are cream through to red shades.
Lola had our first Labrador litter in Ireland. A litter of black puppies. There are several pictures on our previous litters page.
Labradors are very loyal companions, friendly and happy to be fussed and loved. Their coat does shed, particularly in the summer, so grooming and vacuuming will be commonplace! Their coat is short, and they average 29-36 kg for male, 25-32 kg females. Their height is approximately 60 cm.
There are seen to be show type and working type, with the working (like Lola) slightly smaller and less chunky.
Whatever type they require daily exercise, and company throughout the day.
Golden Retriever
The golden retriever is also a large dog, whose coat can be cream, gold, golden. The darker red shades like mahogany are not considered breed standard. The coat can be flat or wavy, is double coated and water repellent. The weight of the golden retriever is about 25-34 kg and height approximately 56-61 cm for male and slightly less for females. Their coat also frequently sheds and needs lots of grooming. Exercise and energy levels are high and they love games of fetch and swimming.
We are new to golden retrievers after coming across them quite by chance. (See our Goldador section). We have Tara, Riley and Fergus. All three are pedigree, purebred Golden Retrievers from excellent UK/Ireland show lines.
Goldador
We came by the goldador cross quite by chance when we were looking for a stud for Millie our black Labrador. We found a lovely golden retriever stud and she was mated producing 11 goldador puppies. Some were cream in colour taking after the sire and the rest black. Here is a picture of 2 puppies from that litter.
Goldadors share the same characteristics of their parents. They are extremely friendly and often used as service dogs, for guide dogs for the blind, autism therapy companions even for bomb detection and search and rescue among many other things.
